One of the main determinants of successful therapy is a positive relationship between the therapist and client. It's important for the client to feel heard, understood, and cared for by their therapist. I base my practice off of creating a positive experience for my clients by providing a warm, supportive, and empathic environment for the client to grow as the individual they strive to be.
In addition to having a warm and inviting relationship, the therapist must also be able to help their clients by using a model of psychological theories to practice from. In my practice, I use an eclectic approach of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic, Gestalt, and Client-Centered therapies. Most importantly, I follow the client's lead to see what approach would work best for them as they mold to increase self-awareness, develop coping skills, foster self-compassion, and break out of self-damaging cycles and routines that keep them feeling stuck.
